2024 Flooring Trends - Shades of Oak
If you visited enough homes in the 2024 St. George Area Parade of Homes and paid close attention to the flooring in these multi-million dollar homes, one trend became quickly apparent. Lighter shades of oak-style floors are extremely popular at the moment.
One of the homes we particularly enjoyed, Varm Omnen from Perry Homes took the look and feel of that lighter-colored wood flooring and used it to cover a wall in the master bedroom!
No matter the 2024 flooring trends, typically in higher-end homes, you expect these floors to be hardwood. It’s durable and can be refinished when worn or discolored and it’s also typically the most expensive way to get the look and feel of warm and lighter colored wood floors.
Hardwood can truly be a stunning way to create a warm and inviting indoor space that will last for generations.
But more and more, the alternatives are beginning to look and feel just as good as the hardwood they mimic.
In fact, if you looked closely you’d have noticed that engineered alternatives were what most of these homes featured as their flooring option.
Flooring Choices in 2024
Today’s laminate isn’t the same laminate that was on the market even 5 years ago. Laminate today is durable, and will last almost as long as a hardwood alternative.
LVP, or luxury vinyl plank, can also create a stunning look while boasting even greater durability than both laminate and hardwood.
And even tile can recreate the look of hardwood these days. However, that trend seems to be slowly fading as it was a difficult option to spot in this year’s parade.
The look and feel of wood
Flooring trends come and flooring trends go but the look and feel of wood will eternally be desired. Wood is warm, it’s inviting, it’s natural, wood is traditional.
But as more and more flooring manufacturers improve their products – LVP, laminate, and tile – look and feel like hardwood. With the benefits of lower costs, lower maintenance, and longer lifespans.
